International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings

For the first time in its more than twenty year history, in 2009 Cersaie introduced a festival of architecture and design into its programme of events.

The title of the cultural programme “building, dwelling, thinking” embodies all the essential actions performed by a human being during his stay upon the earth, as expressed by Heidegger, the German philosopher whose essay provided the inspiration for the contents of the programme. In these last four years,“building, dwelling, thinking” has hosted hundreds of speakers, predominantly from the world of building design and including almost a dozen Pritzker award winners, emerging Italian and international architects and designers, university professors and intellectuals. Dozens of technical and broader cultural themes have been addressed, from architecture through to design and ceramics.
Thanks to “building, dwelling, thinking”, Cersaie is not only an annual international event where design students and professionals can obtain the latest information on ceramic tiles, it has also become a platform for theoretical discussion, an opportunity to debate the most topical issues of contemporary design and to exchange ideas with the world’s most renowned and innovative designers.

The Salone del Mobile is the global benchmark for the Home Furnishing Sector. An invaluable tool for the industry as well as an ongoing, quite extraordinary promotional vehicle. 
The Salone made its first appearance in 1961, designed to promote Italian furniture and furnishing accessories on the export market, and it has continued to do so impeccably, ensuring that the quality of Italian furniture is known to all four corners of the earth, and continues so to do, with half of all its visitors coming from around the world. 

In 1965 the leading furnishing sector companies were brought together in one single commercial exhibition space for the very first time. 1965 was also the year in which exhibitors began to devote serious thought to their stands, a factor that will always make the Salone stand out against other trade fairs; the first collateral event was also held in 1965, and Domus devoted its leading article to the Salone that same year.

The international fair of construction and 'architecture of Italy's most visited. Close to the great fourth edition of MADE expo attendance 253,533 (+4.7%), of which 31,905 (34%) from abroad. A year and a half from the previous edition the Milanese exhibition confirms the point of reference for the construction industry and architecture.
